PADI Tec 40 & Tec 40 Trimix
The PADI Tec 40 and Tec 40 Trimix Courses are entry-level technical diving programs designed for divers who want to go beyond the limits of recreational diving.
These advanced courses train you to safely plan and execute deeper dives and more complex dive profiles, including the use of Trimix (helium-based breathing gases).
Who Is This Course For?
This course is suitable for divers who hold a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification or higher.
Participants must also be certified as Enriched Air (EANx) Divers and Deep Divers.
A minimum of 30 logged dives is required, including at least 10 dives deeper than 30 meters using Enriched Air (EANx).
Applicants must be healthy adults aged 18 or older.
Course Duration
The course is conducted over four training days.
Training includes theory sessions, confined-water practice, and open-water technical dives.
What Will You Learn?
You will learn how to plan and conduct decompression dives safely.
The course covers setting up and managing multi-level decompression schedules.
You will practice the correct use of back gas and decompression gases (EANx), as well as gas-switching procedures.
Emergency problem-solving skills and gas management techniques are emphasized throughout the course.
The Trimix option introduces the theory and safe use of Trimix breathing gases, composed of oxygen, nitrogen, and helium.
You will learn how helium affects diving physiology and how to calculate appropriate gas mixtures.
This training allows you to conduct safer and more comfortable deep technical dives at increased depths.
What Do You Need to Bring?
Participants must use a twin-cylinder setup or technical diving configuration.
Required equipment includes technical accessories such as reels, surface marker buoys, and a backup mask.
You should also bring a dive computer, swimsuit, and reef-safe sunscreen, along with your diving certifications, logbook, and medical clearance.
Some equipment may be rented, but certain items must be personally owned.
What Can You Do After Completion?
After completing Tec 40, you are qualified to dive to a maximum depth of 40 meters, perform limited decompression dives of up to 10 minutes, and use EANx with up to 50% oxygen.
After completing Tec 40 Trimix, you may use Trimix breathing gases to conduct safer and more efficient deep dives.
Graduates are eligible to continue their technical training with higher-level courses such as Tec 45, Tec 50, and Trimix Diver programs.
This course builds strong confidence and problem-solving skills required for advanced technical diving environments.
