PADI Tec 40 CCR
The PADI Tec 40 CCR Course is the entry-level technical diving program for divers using a Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR).
In this course, you’ll learn how to minimize gas consumption and maximize underwater time, opening the door to a quiet, efficient, and highly advanced style of diving.
Who Is This Course For?
This course is suitable for divers who hold a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification or higher.
Participants must also be certified as Enriched Air (EANx) Divers and Deep Divers.
A minimum of 30 logged dives is required, including at least 10 dives using EANx and 6 dives deeper than 30 meters.
Applicants must be healthy adults aged 18 or older.
Participants must be approved users of a certified CCR unit, which must be confirmed prior to registration.
Course Duration
The course typically runs for 5 to 6 days.
Training includes theory sessions, confined-water training, and a minimum of seven open-water dives.
Unit-specific configuration, setup, and maintenance are included.
What Will You Learn?
You will learn the operating principles, setup, and management of CCR units.
The course covers both automatic and manual oxygen control systems.
You will be trained to conduct no-decompression and limited decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters using CCR.
Strong emphasis is placed on CCR-specific emergency procedures and dedicated ascent protocols.
You will also learn gas selection, system checks for electronic and mechanical components, and correct responses to equipment failures.
What Do You Need to Bring?
An approved CCR unit (JJ-CCR) is required.
You must bring a dive computer, backup systems, surface marker buoy (SMB), and your logbook.
Swimsuit and reef-safe sunscreen are required.
You must also provide your diving certifications and a medical clearance.
Some equipment may be rented, but certain CCR-specific items must be personally owned.
What Can You Do After Completion?
After completing the course, you will be qualified to conduct no-decompression and limited decompression CCR dives to depths of up to 40 meters.
You will be able to enjoy longer, quieter dives with exceptional gas efficiency.
Graduates may progress to advanced CCR training such as Tec 60 CCR or Trimix CCR courses.
This certification allows you to dive as a more environmentally responsible and sustainable rebreather diver, reducing bubbles and gas waste while extending dive time.
