Who Is This Course For?

This course is for certified PADI Divemasters or equivalent-level divers from other agencies.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older.

A minimum of 60 logged dives is required to begin the course, and 100 logged dives are required before attending the Instructor Examination (IE).

The program is ideal for divers who want to turn diving into a profession, grow as educators with stronger knowledge and leadership, work as instructors at dive centers domestically and internationally, and become leaders who connect people with the ocean.

Course Duration

The IDC runs for 10 days.

It includes theory sessions, teaching methodology, confined-water and open-water presentations, and simulated classroom teaching.

The PADI Instructor Examination (IE) is conducted separately over two additional days.

What Will You Learn?

You will learn how to teach PADI core courses including Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster.

Training covers classroom presentations, confined-water teaching, and open-water demonstrations.

You will refine underwater skill mastery and learn professional evaluation techniques.

The course provides a deep understanding of PADI systems, standards, and safety-first teaching philosophy.

You will also develop strategies for handling real-world teaching scenarios and problem-solving situations that instructors commonly face.

What Do You Need to Prepare?

You must bring a full set of personal diving equipment, including BCD, regulator, exposure suit, and mask.

Swimsuit, personal toiletries, and reef-safe sunscreen are required.

A medical statement issued within the last 12 months is mandatory and can be completed at a local clinic if needed.

A credit card is required for instructor registration fees, IE fees, and EFR Instructor registration fees.

What Can You Do After Completion?

You will be certified to work anywhere in the world as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI).

You will be qualified to independently teach courses from Open Water through Divemaster.

Career opportunities include employment at dive centers, resorts, travel operations, and educational institutions.

You can continue your professional growth toward higher instructor levels such as MSDT and IDC Staff Instructor.

Most importantly, you will share unforgettable moments and life-changing experiences with people whose first steps into the ocean you guide.
